As a fan of 1930s, 40s and 50s American radio and a bit of a writer, I've begun creating a listener's guide to Classic American Radio series.  The idea is to create a sort of guidebook to the landscape of old time radio in the digital age. Not only will you find information on hundreds of the series that populated the airwaves of the golden age of radio, but also plenty of links to places like archive.org where you can download thousands of free radio shows.  Whether you enjoy drama, comedy, westerns or science fiction, you have come to the right place for free entertainment.  When you need to go away, other Great Old Time Radio Sites can be found here.

Here is a list of radio series, brief descriptions and the approximate length of each program in minutes.  The color of the description tells how many free shows are available in the series.  Red means less than 5, Orange less than 50, Green more than 50 and the evil Black font means that no shows in the series are available for free. Click on the series name for more information and an idea of where you can find the series on the internet.  If you are new to old time radio, you might try the recommended series as they are generally the best of their genre.
